Rossland Christmas Party

Rossland Christmas Party

by Maurie Nord

Sometimes I return to Rossland

To that party of ‘56

To see the snow deeply fallen

To see the roofs steeply pitched

To look up in the night and watch it falling

To catch a flake on my tongue

To run outside in the midst of the laughter

To run outside in the midst of the fun

And wondering what was the matter

And wondering why the pain

The lonely feeling that sometimes surprised me

Had ambushed me there once again

For this was a Christmas party

And why should I feel so alone?

For Dad was happy to be with his friends

And momma was safe at home.
